Seven members of the Heyfield Bird Watchers travelled to the Bush Family Reserve, 225 Hectares of bushland which was taken over by the Trust For Nature in 1999, and is managed by the Trust for Nature and the Meerlieu Committee of Management.
After spending just under 3 hours wandering around the reserve we ticked off 33 bird species. Wedge Tailed Eagle, Brown Falcon, White-naped Honeyeater, Brown-headed Honeyeater, Spotted Pardalote, Grey Butcherbird, Grey Currawong, Golden Whistler, Scarlet Robin, Australian King Parrot to name a few.

We then travelled a few K's to a farm at Meerlieu a relation of one of our members, after spending an hour there over lunch we ticked off 23 species. Australian Wood Duck, Australian Grebe, Black Shouldered Kite, Silvereye, Yellow-rumped Thornbill, Grey Fantail, Satin Bowerbird, White-eared Honeyeater. Spotted Pardalote.
