First Orchids

Went for a drive around the Munro area to check for Orchids, continued onto Fernbank and had a look at the Saplings Morass Reserve. Birds were very scarce, except for a couple of Butcher Birds and some Eastern Rosellas.

I then drove onto Swallow Lagoon to check out the Orchids around the Northern water hole, found a nice patch of Trims and some Small Mosquito orchids about to come out.

Heyfield Birdo's 4th June.

Seven members of the Heyfield Bird Watchers travelled to the Bush Family Reserve, 225 Hectares of bushland which was taken over by the Trust For Nature in 1999, and is managed by the Trust for Nature and the Meerlieu Committee of Management.

Wedge Tailed Eagle, Brown Falcon, White-naped Honeyeater, Brown-headed Honeyeater, Spotted Pardalote, Grey Butcherbird, Grey Currawong, Golden Whistler, Scarlet Robin, Australian King Parrot to name a few.

Butcher Bird.

Walked out the front door a couple of days and here was a juvenile Butcher Bird cleaning up what was left of some cat food. Back in and out with the camera, the bird was very obliging.

Back down at Desailly Flats the Black Fronted Dotterels were having a feast, counted 20 in the flock, also with them were half a dozen Richard's Pippets and a couple of Willy Wagtails, couldn't get very close, and eventually frightened them off.

Having had a further look at the not so good photos I am not sure if these are Dotterels, What do you think Gouldi?
