More Birds.

You will never guess, but it's back down the Sale Common again. I am now walking the common 4 times a  week. Good exercise and plenty to see.

This one is the Young Whistling Kite

Mother or Father looking back towards the nest.

 Wedge tailed Eagle and chick.

 These babies soon grow up.

Out and About.

Out and about, you guessed it, back down the Sale Common. Found another Whistling Kite's nest could be one or two young. There are more than birds down the common as the first photo shows.

Sale Common Again

Another one of my walks around the Sale Common brings up some more highlights. Have been hearing a Whip bird calling for the past couple of weeks, saw one today, and got a fairly good photo. Some other finds were 2 young in the Whistling Kite's nest and a couple of Darter nests with 2 young in each.

Yellow-faced Honeyeater, was from my walk out at Swallow Lagoon on the 34 degree day. I had planned to sit in the one spot for an hour or so, as there were plenty of birds around. It was too hot so I came home.

Two young in the nest.(need to look closely).

 Black Fronted Dotterel.
This ground is indicative of most of the Common. The water is drying very quickly.

This photo made my day. Well worth the 5km walk.

More from the Sale Common.

Just a few more from the Sale Common, found a Whistling Kite nesting and a couple more Azure Kingfishers. The Sacred Kingfishers were calling but unable to sight any.

Lucky to see the Kite on the nest, no chick heads poking up yet.

On my way back the Kite was sitting away from the nest.
Not sure if this is the same one but was in the same tree.

 Rufous Whistler.

Kookaburra was sitting below his nest.

Royal Spoonbill in breeding plumage, there were about twenty of these on Lake Guyatt.

Rubeena Cruise.

Last Wednesday myself and 7 others from the model club, took a leisurely cruise down the Sale canal, from the Port of Sale to the Swing Bridge. Eight kilometres overall, 2 hours for the time. Stopping on the way to look at Koalas, and some of the birds that were seen.

 Great Cormorant.

Saw four Azure Kingfishers, but difficult to get a good photo from the moving boat and not much room to move around.

 Juvenile Whistling Kite.

Not a bird but a Koala Bear.

The next two are from one of my many walks around the Sale Common. I saw a Wedge tailed Eagle flying past and then land. Took about 15 minutes to find the nest, with the eagle holding lunch, and one young.

Australasian Darters nesting. Two young.

Some From Home

Had a pair of nesting Plovers in our back yard this year, 4 eggs and this was the result. They were trapped in the paddock due to a rabbit proof fence. Eventually flying out.

Last week there was a lot of noise coming from our back yard. Found a pair of Rufous Whistler's. I think these were well out of their normal territory. They stayed for 3 days and haven't been back.
